Hugh to Host Short Film Festival, Tropfest New York

Hugh Jackman will host Tropfest New York, a competition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the world’s largest short-film festival. “Knowing that Tropfest has opened doors for brilliant filmmakers, actors, and others for the past 20 years, I’m proud to be a part of the festival as it expands its reach to the U.S. and brings its competition to New York,” said Jackman in a statement. “As a mecca of the arts, New York is a perfect host for a festival that empowers creative minds to try their hand at filmmaking.”

Jackman’s free event, on June 23 in Bryant Park, in which finalists will be screened and judged, will cap three days of festivities that include musical performances, film screenings, and a filmmaker symposium. “Hugh has been a great supporter of Tropfest and we could not be more delighted to have him on board,” said Tropfest director John Polson (Hide and Seek). “He embodies the type of creativity and passion we hope the competition will inspire.”
