On August 28th, Hugh Jackman was appointed the No. 1 Tourist Ambassador of Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, due to recent filming there for The Wolverine. Haneda Akira, the mayor of the city, was there to award Hugh with the honor. He also received a rose gift, as the city is nicknamed “City of Roses.” Many thanks to Hugh Jackman Fan Site for not only sharing images from the ceremony but bringing it to my attention.
Over a month after it hit U.S. cinemas, The Wolverine has finally had its long-awaited Tokyo premiere. Hugh Jackman was there to promote the movie alongside his co-stars Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Hiroyuki Sanada; director James Mangold also made the long flight from the States to join the actors. I’ll be adding more pics as they come in. How great does Hugh look? The Wolverine hits Japanese theaters on Sept. 13th.
Ever the philanthropist, Hugh Jackman – and wife, Deborra-Lee Furness – recently donated an amazing $10,000 to the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Remember: Hugh has spent much of the last few months in Montreal, filming for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. It’s wonderful seeing him give back to the community. Read more information on the generous donation below:
On Tuesday afternoon, his wife Deborra-Lee Furness called up the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation after she tried to donate to the hospital online and things went amok.
“She had tried to make the donation via her computer but the confirmation she got said that she had given $10 so she called us up,” said Kim Fraser who works for the Foundation. “She wanted to make the donation on behalf of her, her husband, and the cast and crew of X-Men.”
Sadly, the handsome Jackman did not visit the offices of the kids hospital foundation personally but his credit card payment was approved.

The first film still featuring Hugh Jackman in X-Men: Days Of Future Past has been released. This will be his seventh – that’s right, seventh! – time portraying the character of Wolverine on film. Wearing some swanky 70s garb, he’s pictured alongside James McAvoy (portraying a young Charles Xavier, aka Professor X) and Nicholas Hoult (a young Hank McCoy, aka Beast).
I’ve also added a couple of behind the scenes images to the gallery, as provided by producer Lauren Shuler Donner and director Bryan Singer. The latter picture features Hugh on the final day of principle photography.
A new, HQ image from Prisoners has been released and added to the gallery. The image features a confrontation between Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal’s characters. On a related note, those two actors will be attending the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month. More information below:
Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming drama, Prisoners, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film will first be screened on Friday, September 6th (9pm) at the Elgin Theater. According to this press release, Hugh and Jake are scheduled to attend the premiere along with co-stars, Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard, and Paul Dano. TIFF has also recently updated the running time as 146 minutes.
